Kendrick Nunn is set to visit Illinois this weekend, his father, Melvin Nunn, confirmed.

"It was the way the schedule best fit in," the elder Nunn said, "and it's our state school."

Kendrick, a standout guard at Chicago Simeon, plans to visit Memphis from Sept. 21-23, UCLA from Sept. 28-30, Ohio State from Oct. 5-7 and Marquette from Oct. 12-14.

Larry Drew II To Start At PG For UCLA

Sep 12, 2012 8:51 AM

Larry Drew II will start at point guard for UCLA.

“That’s going to happen,’’ said coach Ben Howland. “He’s our most indispensable player.’’

The Bruins are still waiting to learn the eligibility status of Kyle Anderson.

Anderson is capable of directing the Bruins’ offense, but lacks the foot-speed to keep up with the more athletics point guards in the college game.

Al Freeman Commits To UCLA

Sep 8, 2012 10:49 PM

Al Freeman verbally committed to UCLA on Saturday.

Freeman is a 6-4 combo guard.

Freeman, who transferred to Findlay from Charlotte (N.C.) Olympic for his senior season, was to have taken visits to Ohio State (Sept. 15), Villanova (Sept. 28) and Duke (Oct. 19) and Kansas but those won’t be necessary now.

“I think they’re just picking up where they left off with this past recruiting class,” Findlay Prep coach Michael Peck told SNY.tv by phone. “Al’s another tremendous player who is physically ready from a strength standpoint.

“You look at his body, he’s got good guard skills, he can handle it. He’s made an effort this spring and summer to try to be somewhat more of a point guard to distribute.

“On top of that he’s a tremendous scorer. He’s got a great mid-range and great long-range  game. Once he works on on finishing at the rim, he’ll be a tremendous triple-threat."
